Daniel Childs is a singer, songwriter and guitarist based in Indian Rocks Beach who plays more than 250 live shows a year across Florida, most of them at beach bars, breweries and waterfront restaurants from Tarpon Springs down to St. Pete Beach.
What to expect at a show
His sets mix crowd-favorite covers from the '70s through the early 2000s with his own beach-inspired originals, pulling from classic rock, country, pop and R&B. Solo, he uses a looper pedal to build layered acoustic arrangements around his vocals. For bigger rooms, he brings his trio, The Daniel Childs Band, and he also plays duo dates.
Original music
His debut album, Escape, came out in 2021 and leans into Gulf Coast life, with songs like "Quit My Job" and "Sanibel Day." Another track from the record, "Siesta Key," took first place in the 2023 Will McLean Best New Florida Song Contest.
Background
Daniel grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, in a music-industry family and toured the country before settling in the Tampa Bay area in 2014. Along the way he has played rooms like Nashville's Bluebird Cafe, Graceland in Memphis and Seattle's Pioneer Square, and locally he has performed at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, the John's Pass Seafood Festival and the Will McLean Music Festival.
