Scotch Creek Market is a general store and grocery on Squilax-Anglemont Road in Scotch Creek, on the North Shuswap. Its owners, Brooke and Linda Kynoch, who also own Safety Mart Foods in Chase, describe it as a real old-time general store with a gas station and pumps, a post office, a private liquor store, and full bakery, deli, meat and produce departments in a 14,000 sq. ft. building. They bought the store to keep it locally owned and operated. As told in a 2024 Business Development Bank of Canada feature, the store survived the August 2023 wildfire, with the owners crediting its rooftop sprinklers. The Kynochs were cleared to return daily during the 18-day evacuation, fed firefighters, cleaned out the smoke damage and got the store ready to serve residents again. They also kept paying staff during the closure and bought 50 freezers to donate to residents through the Lions Club.
